BCQS’ Quantity Surveying services in the pre-contract phase include preliminary cost planning and procurement advice at concept design stage, cost management during design development, preparation of tender documents, solicitation of competitive tenders or negotiation with a preferred contractor and the drawing up of an appropriate construction contract. During the post-contract phase clients’ benefit from accurate interim valuations of the work in progress, timely financial statements projecting final cost, including costs associated with variations/change orders and settlement of the final account, upon completion.

In the aftermath of the volcanic eruption in Montserrat, BCQS were commissioned to reestablish a construction cost database and agree this as the basis for accurately projecting the tender range for a series of new infrastructure projects needed to establish a new town in the safe zone in the North of the island. Prior to the involvement of BCQS, there had been wide swings in the projected and tendered costs, resulting in the lack of confidence of the financing agencies receiving "value for money". BCQS have now completed three of the initial infrastructure projects all on or before projected completion date and all within budget.
