INTERNATIONAL PROJECT MANAGEMENT COMPANY BCQS INTERNATIONAL ESTABLISHES OPERATIONS IN BRAZIL
Sao Paulo, Brazil, July 15, 2010 – BCQS International, established over 40 years ago, recently opened its seventh office, located in Brazil. This is a significant milestone as the largest property and development consultancy in the Caribbean expand
s into South America where huge potential is foreseen in the near and long term future.
James Slattery, a Director of BCQS International, is heading up the new operation. Working as a part of the BCQS team for over 25 years, James sees this move as a very exciting chapter in the company’s journey. He explains, “We have been looking at Brazil for quite some time, but made the decision early this year to establish an office in Sao Paulo, the business hub of Brazil, and indeed South America,” adding, “we have worked for clients in over 20 countries and see South America as a continent that can expand that list. We are currently in the process of opening another South American office in the coming months.”
“Having been involved in the development sector, we see the need for construction projects to be built on time and within budget in Brazil” James said, “We are known for this service and have a great diversity of experience in all sectors of the markets – from resort/hotel work to commercial and residential.”
One of BCQS’ major service sectors is providing loan monitoring and due dilligence services to major banks in the region. In the Caribbean BCQS are used by several funding institutions that employ them to monitor projects where they have lent money to developers. According to James, “by using BCQS, banks become aware upfront of the risks involved on funding developments and they mitigate their risk of projects being delayed and running over budget”.
BCQS’ experienced project managers and quantity surveyors offer advice on construction contracts, specifications, payment terms, change orders and much more, providing funding institutions with the best chance their projects will complete successfully.
“We have a network of existing clientele who are very interested to hear of our experiences in Brazil and of the opportunities to invest here,” notes Liam Day, Managing Director of BCQS International, “With the advent of the World Cup in 2014 and the Rio Olympics in 2016, the emergence of Brazil’s fortunes has spread worldwide. The need for due diligence services becomes greater in a fast growing economy as deals are made more often than not ‘at high speed’ and with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, it is only later that the mistakes or details over looked at the front end become apparent. Using BCQS will mitigate this risk.”
James adds, “The Brazilian market is growing at an incredible rate – 8 to 10% a year right now.
