RICS Appoints Sanjay Amin FRICS, Director of BCQS International, to Global Governing Council
Barbados, 13th, August 2013 – Sanjay Amin, Director for BCQS International Property and Development Consultancy has been appointed to the global governing council of one of the world's largest and most influential professional bodies, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which has some 160,000 members representing property interests worldwide.
Rob Mahoney, Honorary Secretary, comments, "In his new role, Sanjay has a great opportunity and challenge ahead of him. We are collectively responsible for the future of our profession and guardians, strategists and promoters of its current contribution to society and the lead economies of the world."
Sanjay Amin's role officially began on 1st August 2013, he comments, "The Governing Council sets the long term direction for RICS that will shape the future of the profession. The RICS is now the world's leading qualification for professional standards in land, property and construction, with offices in the New York, London, Brussels, Dubai, New Delhi, Hong Kong, Beijing and Sydney. I am very happy to have been asked to serve on this forward looking Council and hope to assist the RICS with their aim of global growth whilst continuing to maintain and set high standards in the real estate profession."

Sanjay Amin was born and bred in Nairobi, Kenya. He attended Durham School in England to complete his higher education and graduated in Quantity Surveying in 1984. He worked for Gardiner & Theobald in London for 12 years where he was an Associate Partner. In 1997, he left to open BCQS's office in the British Virgin Islands. In 2006, Sanjay moved with his family to Barbados to expand the company's operations in Barbados, Trinidad and the Eastern Caribbean Islands.
Sanjay is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years experience including managing a variety of commercial, residential, resort, airport, hospital and industrial projects in the United Kingdom, Barbados, BVI, Trinidad and Tobago and the Eastern Caribbean Islands. He has also worked in Sweden and Dubai. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a director of BCQS International. He was a Club Service Director of the Rotary Club of Tortola (2004-2005) and is a current member of the Rotary Club of Barbados.
Sanjay was appointed RICS Caribbean Board Chairman in August 2011 after being elected to this position by his fellow RICS Caribbean Board members. Prior to his Caribbean Board Chairman appointment, Sanjay was a member of the RICS Caribbean Board for the 2007-2011 term. He is a current member of the RICS Americas Construction Council and performs duties of an APC Assessor for membership into RICS. In 2009, he participated in the voluntary mission to Haiti on behalf of RICS.
